Welcome to Programapedia

Programapedia: The Synergistic Approach to Programming provides access to programming and presenter resources for use by any library. This project was created by staff of the Prairie Area Library System (PALS) and the Shawnee Library System (ShLS) in Illinois. Anyone may view the entries and utilize the data contained therein; however, only members of the PALS and ShLS may add data if they have been trained to input.

The program and presenter profiles offer details about programming events and presentations. These profiles may provide information including logistics, program description, costs, feedback and presentation materials, as available.

To be included in Programapedia, presenters must be available to Illinois libraries. Speakers and presenters listed may also be available outside of Illinois.

Getting Involved

Although anyone can view the site and take advantage of the contacts, initially authors (those who can add data) for the project must be from member libraries of the Prairie Area and Shawnee Library Systems. Staff from member libraries of these system may request an author account for Programapedia. The account request is approved by the sponsoring library systems before entries can be added or updated.

Go to Programapedia Online Training to view the archived training sessions held June 16 and 18 and July 1 and 2. The Power Point slides for these sessions are also available. Further training opportunities are planned for Fall 2008 for both PALS and SHLS staff and member libraries. Check back often at www.programapedia.org for more detailed information on these training opportunities.
